Gartner Report, “Redefining Endpoint Protection for 2017 and 2018”

NEWS / 11.15.17 / The Cylance Team

Gartner recently released a report titled Redefining Endpoint Protection for 2017 and 2018. The report states that malware, ransomware, zero-day attacks and other malicious attack tools, tactics, and techniques are evolving faster than traditional endpoint protection platforms (EPP). As such, vendors must now ensure that their EPPs have also evolved and can adequately detect and defend against constantly changing and expanding attacks. Also, that they offer many of the capabilities found in endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.

Gartner recommends adopting their Adaptive Security Architecture framework to assess a firm’s ability to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats. Their new report discusses this architecture and shows how EPP and EDR solutions are converging. Additionally, why next generation platforms should include more advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Newer platforms can improve a firm’s security posture, but they can also make vendor selection and evaluation more difficult. The Gartner Redefining Endpoint Protection for 2017 and 2018 analyst report, combined with The Next-Generation Anti-Malware Testing for Dummies book, can help facilitate vendor selection and testing. To improve your endpoint security posture, be sure to download copies of both today.
